泰雅族的傳統服裝以織物為主,型態古老,技術原始,雖經變革與戰亂,卻始終保持以織布的文化，展現泰雅強大的表現力,泰雅族和太魯閣族在服飾的製作和利用的表現有異曲同工之處，雖然2006年太魯閣已分離獨立成一族，但能接受自己是以織布見長民族的說法。
男女服飾的組成
泰雅傳統服裝是綜合了縫製式，及披掛式的服裝形式，傳統服裝的組成一般分日常服、工作服和禮用服飾。泰雅族沒有明顯的階級，即使頭目家庭穿著的也和族人一般。男子服裝的基本組件包括：額帶、頭飾、胸兜、上衣、披肩、前遮陰布及刀帶。女子服裝的組合則移除前遮陰布及刀帶，基本組件是額帶、頭飾、胸兜、上衣、披肩、片裙及綁腿。
服裝使用的材質
泰雅族居住於亞熱帶的山嶽地區，擁有大量繁殖和綠蔭遮天的原始林，泰雅族在山林深處與參天古木為伍，因此服飾或織物可以應用的資源眾多，但多半還是以苧麻為主。
服裝的形式
古時泰雅族服裝以方衣形態保存到現代，上衣是兩片同式的長方織花布或平織布縫合，預留前襟、袖口式樣簡明。片裙和披巾是以同款的三片織物連接，再用綁帶結合，像遠古民族披裹式衣衫的一樣。
