賽夏族過去的穿著主要以紅、黑、白來作服飾上顏色的配色，其布料則以苧麻織成布匹然後製成衣。早期染色技術尚未發達時，賽夏族多以素色麻布衣穿著作為日常生中常用的服飾，主要以保暖、蔽體為主。在染色技術傳入之後，賽夏族人開始在服飾上呈現多種織法、裝飾紋樣，以紅、黑、白作為主要的代表色。其代表色意義如下：
傳統服飾的結構上：男子服飾則主要以內長衣、短背心、遮陰布、其他裝飾品為主，女子服飾則以內長衣、短上衣、胸兜、一片裙或是七分褲、其他裝飾品。現在的服飾較簡化，已不復見過去繁複的穿法，但是反而在服飾上的裝飾呈現多元化，早期以獸骨、貝類、竹、薏米珠來裝飾，現在則以亮片、鈕釦、鈴鐺、彩珠等裝飾，讓賽夏族人的服飾簡化但呈現華麗的風貌。
